Plano Star Courier: Plano Council Approves Master Plan for Future Legacy Drive Park
Plano Parks will seek resident feedback on a new Legacy Drive Park
Plano City Council approved $64,600 to fund a master plan for the new Legacy Drive Park. The proposed location isbetween Legacy Drive and Communications Parkway. In 2017, Plano Parks purchased the park site – 7.11 acres of land – after noticing residential units popping up in the area. While the land was in rezoning flux, the city secured some green space in Plano’s most urban area.
According to Elizabeth Del Turco, senior park planner, the tentatively named Legacy Drive Park has a unique location. With a densely-developed location on the westside, the future park patrons will be a mix of residents, business people, and visitors. Despite constraints due to the park being adjacent to the Legacy West shopping area, it still has great potential.
During master planning, residents can offer feedback on the future park at meetings or online surveys. Typically, there will be a minimum of three meetings. These meetings present the project’s opportunities and constraints, allow for development of a conceptual design, and produce a single design for a final round of feedback.“The process allows our residents to participate in the process and help us set priorities. It also helps staff to phase improvements to control costs, if necessary,” Del Turco said. For the full article, visit https://starlocalmedia.com/planocourier/plano-approves-master-plan-for-legacy-drive-park/.
